As 2007 comes to a close, I look back at a great year of expansion and accomplishment but with the stomach butterflies that beset a long distance runner. I feel we are now settling in at the starting line after 4 years of training, for a marathon of solid performance. Later this month the Maxim Bungalows goes into a soft launch allowing select guests to visit the resort and experience 5-Star Caribbean Luxury. In January 2008 we embark on two initiatives that will bring us around the world. myProducer.tv, our social media company for the entertainment space will launch its beta site after a year of back-end programming. Expect the best of the social networking world with business and marketing tools for filmmakers to share the filmmaking experience and business risk with peer producers (YOU). Additionally, VP has partnered to open Systems Venture Technologies, an off-shore technology development company. We have dozens of talented developers in India and Bangladesh to support our growing interactive practice as well as provide subcontracted developers to companies or other agencies in need of high quality, cost-effective programming support.

The Dominican International Film Festival is a success!

A luxurious resort, a week of extraordinary films, sandy beaches and the warmth of the Dominican sun, it is a wonder why anyone ever came home! The 2007 DIFF wrapped up its third annual year with incredible success.

The DIFF team would like to extend a warm thank you to all who were involved with the 2007 festival. Because of your involvement, we were able to showcase over 35 films, from 13 countries and in eight languages. This international variety brings insightful storytelling and perspectives from around the globe. This year, we were also blessed to have a special focus on many amazing Spanish language films featured throughout the festival, in addition to a handful of short films created by creative and brilliant children who participated in our Director's Cut program.

Celebrities like Joe Pantoliano, Judge Reinhold, Manny Perez, Julissa Bermudez and Dominican power couple Dania Ramirez and Jessy Terrero took part in this year's festival. Special AVP guests Jenn Boss and Jake Gibb were on hand to help distribute recycled Crocs to children from the local community as well.

From our morning, afternoon and evening screenings, through the ever-flowing Brugal infused rum drinks, to our celebrity VIP parties, pass holders were never without something amazing to do, see, eat or drink! This year, guests enjoyed many lavish pool-side parties, including one special evening that included a live performance by Kate Nauta.

SOLOMAR

The definition of SOLOMAR translates to: "Sun-Sea". The concept of the production company was realized while we were on the south coast beaches of the Dominican Republic. This month, SOLOMAR returns to the beaches of the Dominican Republic to detail the north coast for South Coast Plaza Mall, a high-end retail experience in Orange County, CA. Producer Joe Tatom will lead a production crew of 30 for the two-week production to take place in January 2008. Sun Village Resort & Spa and Maxim Bungalows were chosen as the exclusive properties for the photo shoot.

Sonoma Valley Film Fest gets a fresh new look
for the Eleventh Annual Celebration

Preparation for the Eleventh Annual Sonoma Valley Film Festival being held April 9-13 is heavily underway, starting with a brand new look and feel. We created an exciting new logo specifically for next year's festival and updated the website's look with a color palette of fresh greens and a splash of wine red.

This month also marks the launch of the all-new Sonoma Valley Film Festival e-newsletter, suitable for lovers of film, food and wine. With over 22,000 subscribers, this is a huge marketing tool for the upcoming festival.

This month's issue features a recap with photos from last year, featured films, as well as fun new sections like Halloween "Wine & A Movie" pairings and "Cinematic Culinary Creations." Check out the online version of this month's e-newsletter here and sign up to receive your own copy.
